LE TEMPS D'UN REVE
THE TIME OF A DREAM
In a world torn apart by two divergent visions of Nirvana, Djay, a dreamy young adult, will have to make a choice between virtual reality, in which he grew up, and the real world.
Menkind have always been in search of the magnificiant, of peace, of Nirvana .
In a more or less near future, men have developed a virtual reality: Arcadia , in which the richest and the poorest can live extraordinary experiences.
With the advent of this island of freedom, more and more people are cutting themselves off from reality and from their sleeping time to fly away in this timeless space. Lack of sleep becomes general and affects the memory of humans who remember less and less. A group of humans, Buddhist monks, who call themselves the HIPPOCAMPES , sets out to preserve human memory and its knowledge as humanity declines and plunges ever deeper into Arcadia.
On the other hand, a group of radical transhumanists, the SPIDERS , including the creators of Arcadia, think that the real world does not allow reaching the Nirvana, seeked by all within this Buddhist society. They decide never to live in the real world in which there has already been so much conflict. They then immerse themselves in an advanced state of transfer in Arcadia, gathered in old metro stations disused since the democratization of the Hyperloop (a new means of transport twice as fast as an airplane).
It is in this context that we find our two protagonists :
Djay , a young adult who has almost always lived in Arcadia (is part of the Spiders group), is brutally removed from the virtual reality after an attack perpetrated by Maya.
Maya is a young woman from the Hippocampus group who can no longer follow the pacifist teaching of her elders.
Only survivor of the attack, Djay follows her to find out who she is and take revenge. He will discover during this journey that she is not what she seems to be at first glance as Maya herself, realizes the absurdity of her actions. Djay will learn that Nirvana may not be where he thinks it is.
